In the name of Him who taught the soul to think,
and kindled the heart's lamp with the light of soul
The role of Iranians in affecting the culture, literature and sects of other nations, as well as in preaching the last divine religion and Islamic sciences is revealed for all. The nation of great Iran has continuously presented its spiritual and materialistic resources to other nations; including religion, civilization, science, history, culture, literature etc. These global achievements within recent decades, especially the years following the glorious Islamic Revolution, have always enjoyed the attention of Iran lovers all around the world. Therefore, it is worthy to saturate their spiritual and scientific thirst by benefitting from the constantly evolving sources of language didactics.
Passing Remarks, especially regarding the new and well-spread science of Persian language didactics as a second or foreign language, is quite difficult. In the complicated path of teaching Persian language, we have been hurdled by numerous questions and uncertainties, particularly; what is the precise purpose of instruction of Persian language? To what extent are we familiar with language didactics? What are the qualities of our learners? What is there to be taught? How to prepare teaching content? How to teach this content? What are the knowledge prerequisites of us as teachers? How to manage multi-lingual and multi-cultural classrooms? How to assess the skills Persian learners? Etc.
Finding answers to these questions required honest and proportional efforts from all the stakeholders in the matter of teaching the Persian language to non-Persian speakers. The Persian Language Center Imam Khomeini International University has, in turn, taken valuable steps for solving many of these issues. Among these, a crucial step was to launch the Journal of Teaching Persian language in the year 2012 in an effort meet the following goals:
Supplementing the development of Persian language didactics as a foreign or second language and its relevant domains in bilingual areas of Iran and other countries, coordinating and encouraging scientific researches in the field of Persian language didactics, publishing the latest developments of this science and sharing the results of researches of teachers and experts in this field, and eventually, advising the institutes and managing stakeholders of this field with relevant developments and the scientific and instructional needs of Persian language teachers in other countries.
Although, it is worthy to thank the undoubtful cooperation of Mr. Al-e-Booye, Director Imam Khomeini International University; Associates of Research and Technology, Administration and Finance, and International Office, respectively: Mr. Rassafi, Mr. Hemmati and Mr. Mirhosseini; as well as Dr. Hosseini Moghaddam, Director Persian Language Institute.
