As many scholars believe, teaching Persian language, that as the second language in the Muslim world, is a window for knowing and understanding the culture and civilization of Iran, requires specialized curriculum development. This research is aimed to present the reading comprehension skill for upper-intermediate learners in the field of Islamic sciences on the basis of Task-based approach and Andersons’s reading model (1999) and study its effect on learners’ reading comprehension. To do so, a pre-test designed by the researchers was used to measure both control and experimental groups. The experimental group was taught 10 lessons on the basis of task-based syllabus, while the control group received their regular syllabus in the Al-Mustafa University. Doing so, a post-test was given to both groups to measure the effectiveness of treatment. Dependent T-test was employed to analyze the data obtained in tests. The findings indicated that the Task-based approach and Andersons’s reading model (with respect to the experimental group that outperformed the control one in post-test) were effective in enhancing the reading comprehension skill.
